Now More Than Ever

After so many months of masks, sheltering in place, social media, social distancing, and social reforms, many of us are ready to get back out there.  Get back to life, back to living.  No longer just virtually, but for real.

After so many month of living on edge, feeling exposed and vulnerable and powerless and disconnected, it seems we're turning a corner, moving out of the darkness rather than merely through it, into the light and rebirth of a new dawn.

As far as crises go, this one (more like a crisis composite - this one, and this one, and this one) was a doozy.  Unlike anything most of us have lived through before.  Global, universal, existential in its breadth and width and scope and effect.  Dwarfing hurricanes and earthquakes and economic meltdowns and terrorist attacks and even wars.

However,

Despite the fear and danger and uncertainty and change all around us, many have chosen to make lemonade.

To silver line.  To glass-half-full it.

"Never let a good crisis go to waste.”

Many of us have taken this to heart, and have used this unanticipated, extended pause to try something new, take on-line lessons, master new skills, revisit a neglected interest or passion, sit down and write or read or go through those papers/books/scripts, try or develop new recipes, Marie Kondo drawers and closets.

Some of us have chosen to reflect, to question it all.  Everything.  To sit in silence, do a deep dive into Who and Why and What and When.  To soul search, to reinvent one's self, one's life, one's world.

And Why Not?  If not You, Then who?  And if not Now, When?

As we re-emerge, ascendent, into a bruised, broken but still brave new world laid bare and ripe, cleared by pandemic and economic fall-out and a new administration and war in Ukraine and the desire for social justice and positive change, as we chart our next path and new course, it doesn’t hurt to have in your corner a friendly face, a helping hand, a cool brow, a reassuring smile, a gentle nudge, an arm up.

Indeed, as we begin again, to transition out of lock-down, off Zoom, away from contactless hugs to real ones - come back to dreaming and living again - this may be the ideal time to make that move.  And from this annus horribilus create a new life in a wiser, kinder world.

If not You, Then who?  And if not Now, When?
